Let the GAME begin!

I have started a GAME plan to incorporate (NET.S) standards into my classroom. This week I will research resources I can use to facilitate my plan.

Goal #1 Model Digital-Age Work and Learning

In order to model technology, I have to be comfortable using it myself. I have used this blog in several of my Walden classes and like participating in the Discussion boards. I have started a discussion board with my students using Gaggle. I need to find resources on the internet from other teachers and how they use blogs and/or discussion boards in their classrooms.

Goal #2 Promote and Model Digital Citizenship and Responsibility

In my last Walden class, I devloped a unit to teach students how to research on the internet. I will use this unit to accomplish this goal. I want to add to this unit by adding lessons on internet safety. I have started looking for resources. I started with the Gaggle web site to find safety lessons. They have several lessons that can be accessed online or with worksheets that can printed.

  1. Deb,
I also have found that prior class work is often a great starting point to expand my knowledge and skills.

  2. It looks like Gaggle can be a great resource to use in the classroom. Students can use this program to communicate and collaborate safely.

I also think that a great first step to teach and practice responsibility while using technology is creating a unit to teach, which you have done. Students will really understand how to search the internet and how to be safe by actually trying it out. Great idea!

  3. You are the 2nd person to mention Gaggle. I'm going to check out this site. It sounds very interesting.

  4. Kelly: Walden is a great resource.

Elizabeth: I am looking forward to using this unit with my students. I have started the Gaggle accounts to get us started.

Denise: I am new to Gaggle, but it has many great applications. It has a calendar, homework drop box, and a discussion board to name a few. Make sure you are listed as an administrator or you will not be able to monitor your students properly. It has video tutoring as well as internet safety lessons.

Thanks to all your supportive comments and suggestions.

  5. Deb,

I really like how you are taking something that you have already created and maybe even used in your classroom to work towards your GAME plan goal. I think teaching students the proper way to research information is so important.
